<lj:music>Wilco - At Least That's What You Said</lj:music>

Okay, so it's been longer than a week, but I've been keeping really busy. Too busy. And on weekends I crash.
But such is life.

I got a new sketchbook the other week, a thin 6x8 toned Strathmore to keep in the messenger bag at all times. (Ideally this prevents me from resorting to printer/lined paper, but I'm not sure that's happened yet.)

I've had this idea in my head for at least a year. I transferred it to illo board, but chances are pretty good I won't get to painting it this semester. At least I have it down, now. Admittedly, though, it was pretty disconcerting when my AP Studio teacher looked at it and said, "What's going on here?? I'm not sure I understand.."
..rjgkahgwhgh. We wonder why I don't do more conceptual art..

So, I have Arcade Fire's Neon Bible leak, and it's been in my car CD player for the past month. The song "Antichrist Television Blues" left such a strong, staining image in my mind, and I had to draw it out. I like this one, it was one of the rare times I managed to get just the emotions/expressions that I was aiming for.

My English teacher asked me to draw a comical face to stick up on a box he has covering the PA system reciever, because lately teachers have tended to scream into it. I drew him thumbnails because I'm indecisive, he said he likes them all.
I like how this is drawn on the back of a printout of Spark Notes for the same class.

Super-rough preliminary sketch for the DMG shirt I'm going to make in screenprinting. Soooo much wrong here (head sizes, the fact that Neysa's a midget here, etc), but the composition is basicaly what it is. I'm excited for how this one will turn out - the first shirt I printed was a bootleg band tee, so it'll be nice to get my own art up on a shirt.

A very hastily drawn and even more roughly colored sketch for dryponder's Supergirl meme.

And also, on a totally different vein, I finally uploaded the history project we did last year to YouTube. Embarrassing or triumphant, you tell me...

- - -

That's all for the time being.. hopefully in the next week or so I should have a finished graphite piece and three logos. And perhaps an acceptance letter for Art Center, but then again wishful thinking was always one of my downfalls..

    <lj:music>Arcade Fire - Black Mirror</lj:music>

So, I realized that since I update my website once every two years, and DeviantArt sucks, I could use to keep up an artblog.

I fully welcome anyone to friend me, and I'll return the favor. I will not make LJ cuts, while I will try to keep the images small. If you don't like that, don't add me.

Anyway, without much further ado. This is from a recent batch, all done within the past two months or so, none of which I've gotten around to loading to my site yet (heh).

Ink + watercolor.

This is actually really old. 15 minute pose. Something tells me she wasn't quite this big, either..

Same session. Another 15, I guess.

This was recent. A 20, or something, plus an hour of extra work. Charcoal.

Same. Model decided it'd be cute to wear a Shirley Temple wig. While it was, it was so much harder to draw than her short-cropped black hair. Rurgh.

From a black and white photo of a friend of mine. A study in color. I usually don't use this excuse, but it really looks so much better in person. The pastel paper has such a great tooth to it that the camera just distorted.

Same vein as the former, except in oil paints on board. I kindof like how on board, the first layer doesn't get totally sucked up by the canvas. Interesting.

For any of you who read my regular LJ, this is the single product of fall's LAAFA class. 20+ hours on this sucker.. but I do like how it turned out. The actual size is 18x24, and a photo does absolutely no justice to the fact that you will not find a single hatch mark in this drawing. That class practically killed me.

..anyways, I have some sketches sitting in a new pad I bought, I'll upload them maybe in about a week. Been having to focus on learning Illustrator well in a very short period of time, as I'm taking screenprinting, and school wants their sweatshirts printed nowww.

Comments?
